About 2π-LABS
2pi-Labs GmbH is a spin-off of Ruhr University Bochum (Chair of Integrated Systems) based in Bochum. The company develops and manufactures ultra-wideband FMCW radar sensors of the 2πSENSE brand in the D-band (126–182 GHz) with a bandwidth of 56 GHz and a range resolution of around 2.5 mm, including a proprietary millimeter-wave IC measuring 1.5 × 2 mm. The portfolio includes micron-level precision distance measurement, non-contact thickness, basis weight and density measurement of films and webs, material characterization (permittivity, loss factor, layer thicknesses), moisture and foam degree measurement, and radar imaging for non-destructive testing. For raw pipe extrusion of plastics, an OEM solution for thickness measurement without a coupling medium is offered, combinable with gravimetric dosing for closed-loop control; together with partner iNOEX, several thousand sensors are in industrial use. Customers include OEMs as well as partners from industry and research worldwide, including KROHNE, Volkswagen and iNOEX.
