4D Photonics GmbH, based in Isernhagen near Hanover, develops and manufactures sensor systems for automated laser process monitoring for industrial laser manufacturing processes such as laser welding, laser cutting, laser deposition welding, additive manufacturing, cleaning and surface finishing. The product platform comprises the process monitoring systems 4D.watcher and 4D.TWO as well as the assistance system 4D.commander for the analysis of process data; more than 42 physical process variables are monitored, including real-time detection of anomalies such as cracks, pores, spatter and defects. In addition, the company offers consulting on sensor selection, installation and commissioning, training, maintenance as well as worldwide support and solutions for data mining and long-term data storage on customer systems. The systems are used mainly in microelectronics, medical technology, the automotive industry and e-mobility. More than 2,000 systems are in use worldwide, supported by a global sales and service network with more than 20 process monitoring specialists.
