5 Senses Coffee is an owner-managed specialty coffee roastery founded in Freiburg in 2015, with two cafés and an in-house confectionery. Coffees are roasted by hand from fairly and directly traded green coffee; roasting began in 2015 on a 2-kg roaster in the back room of the first café. In 2019 the second café opened in Freiburg-Herdern with an enlarged roastery and confectionery, and since early 2023 roasting has taken place at the larger production site in Glottertal near Freiburg. The company serves gastronomy guests as well as private customers via an online shop and offers barista courses. According to its own statements, values such as fairness, sustainability and appreciation along the entire value chain form the basis of its business decisions.

Founded in January 2015 by Thorsten Kessmann and Christina Romberger; opening of the first café on Wiesentalstraße in Freiburg, with roasting initially done on a 2-kg roaster in the back room
