About A.MANNESMANN
A.MANNESMANN MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH in Remscheid manufactures highly precise machine elements, precision ball screws, linear and telescopic actuators as well as drilling, milling, grinding and broaching spindles for the international machine and machine tool industry. The company is a specialist for long, slender, rotationally symmetrical components with a high slenderness ratio: workpieces up to 15,000 mm in length, diameters from 25 to 500 mm and unit weights up to 5 t are produced to drawing in single-part production, small series or series production. The value chain includes machining (turning, milling, drilling, deep-hole drilling, whirling, grinding, thread grinding, honing), surface finishing (lapping, superfinishing, microfinishing) as well as heat treatment and deep nitriding in our own plant with vertical deep furnaces up to 16 m in length; surface hardness reaches up to 900 HV. Since 2017, the company founded in 1796 has been part of the SCHNEEBERGER Group. Precision reaches down to 1 µm and accuracy grades IT 1, IT 3 and IT 5; in addition, cooling systems, sensor technology for ball screws, mineral cast assemblies and services such as overhaul and failure analysis are offered.

Materials and Processes
Nitriding steel (high-strength tempered, deep-nitrided)
Material for ball screw spindles and spindles with surface hardnesses up to 900 HV after deep nitriding in our own plant.
Tool steel (through-hardened)
Used for custom rolling and linear guides in special sizes with hardened raceways.
Corrosion-resistant steel (stainless versions)
For components with requirements for corrosion resistance, e.g. ball screws in special versions.
Commercial steel grades
Base material for machine elements, spindles and contract machining of shafts, bushings and sleeves.
Aluminium (telescopic spindles)
Material for telescopic spindles and actuator components where low mass is required.
Ceramics
Whirlable material for helical geometries with a grinding-like surface quality.
Composite materials
Machining by the whirling process for demanding applications in mechanical engineering.
Sintered materials
For contract whirling of helical geometries such as rotors and worms.
Plastics
Machining by the whirling process for components e.g. in plastics processing machines.
Mineral cast
Material for machine beds and assemblies with high vibration damping and thermal stability.
