About ABIES Austria
ABIES Austria Holzverarbeitung GmbH is a wood producer based in Oberweis in the Upper Austrian Salzkammergut region, specialising in dimensionally precise production of finger-jointed solid structural timber (KVH). The softwood from spruce, spruce/fir and, on request, pine is technically dried, strength-graded, finger-jointed, glued, planed on four sides and delivered with chamfered edges. The standard length is 13 m; cuts up to 16 m are possible. In addition, DUO/TRIO beams, glulam (BSH) according to EN 14080, log-cabin profiles and CNC cutting of components up to 18 m in length are produced on a Hundegger K2i joinery machine. Customers come primarily from the Central European prefabricated house industry, timber wholesale and modern timber construction (roof and wall structures, timber frame construction); private customers are also supplied via a timber retail store and the webshop holz-shop.com. The production process is subject to continuous third-party monitoring by Holzforschung Austria. Around 60 employees most recently generated annual revenue of over €25 million; production is partially self-sufficient thanks to a 1.4 MW photovoltaic system.
