About ActLight

ActLight SA, based at the EPFL Innovation Park in Lausanne, is a technology company in the field of light sensing. The company has developed the Dynamic PhotoDetector (DPD) technology, in which light intensity is measured not via a photocurrent but via the delay time of a high-current forward pulse. The DPD is manufactured in standard CMOS technology on silicon wafers; production itself is carried out by manufacturing partners, while ActLight focuses on technology development and IP licensing. In addition to the DPD, the portfolio includes a Time-to-Digital Converter (TDC), front-end electronics and pixel design, each available as an embedded and stand-alone variant. The technology targets wearables, smartphones, IoT, health monitoring (PPG), eye tracking and optical data transmission. ActLight holds 100% of its intellectual property rights with 30 registered patents.
