About AdaptX Systems
AdaptX Systems GmbH, based in Berlin, develops and markets a system for targeted process cooling in machining. A small quantity of sustainable, biodegradable cooling liquid circulates in a closed loop through a cooling element on the tool holder and dissipates heat directly at the cutting edge – conventional coolant is not required. The system is designed as a retrofit solution for existing CNC lathes and fits into standard tool holders without machine conversion; the cooling element cools the cutting edge down to -20 °C. Currently, the solution is designed for turning processes; extension to milling and drilling is in development. Typical applications are processes with thermally limited tool life when machining hardened steel, titanium or Inconel, as well as series production and multi-shift operation, for example with copper and brass alloys. Suitability is assessed together with the customer on the specific use case, from cutting parameters to the wear pattern.

Materials and Applications
Hardened Steel
Typical use case when thermal wear limits tool life.
Titanium
Challenging material with high cutting temperatures, for which targeted cooling extends tool life.
Inconel
Nickel-based alloy in which heat is the limiting factor in the machining process.
Copper Alloys
According to the manufacturer, effects are seen in surface quality and cycle time, with up to 75 % better surface finish (Ra).
Brass Alloys
Well-machinable materials for series production with a focus on surface finish and cycle time.
Plastics
According to the manufacturer, also usable for machining plastics.
Closed Internal Cooling (Closed Internal Cooling)
Sustainable, biodegradable cooling liquid in a closed loop, without contact with the workpiece or chips.
