About AHS
Advanced Hydrogen Storage (AHS) makes decentrally produced hydrogen safe to store and flexible to transport. The core element is the ONEReactor, which is based on a licence from Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies and was tested for six years at the Fraunhofer Institute. Hydrogen is chemically bound into the carrier oil benzyl toluene (LOHC) – without pressure cylinders and without the significant scaling limits of pressure vessels. Hydrogen uptake is exothermic at around 220 °C, release is endothermic at around 280 °C; the heat demand is approximately 20 % of the discharged hydrogen and can be covered, for example, by waste heat, a fuel cell or an engine. Up to 500 kg H2 per day can be stored and released per unit; storage and release units can be operated at the same or different locations. Target customers are refineries, chemical companies, data centres, hospitals, small airports as well as medium-sized manufacturing companies with high energy or H2 demand.

Technology & Media
Benzyl toluene (carrier oil)
Liquid carrier medium in which hydrogen is chemically bound and which can be reused after hydrogen release.
Hydrogen
Storage and transport medium, produced decentrally e.g. with PV and wind power and flexibly storable.
