About AfricroozE

AfricroozE GmbH is a Hamburg-based company that develops and distributes robust, solar-powered e-bikes for the African continent. Originating from the vision of the NGO EURIST (European Institute for Sustainable Transport) and financed through a KfW-DEG project, the vehicles were designed in cooperation with the Indian supplier NNE. The e-bikes are engineered for special requirements: low price, particularly robust components, 100 kg load capacity, speeds of up to 30 km/h, long range and battery charging via solar energy. Areas of application include cargo transport, commuter mobility, e-bike ambulance, taxi, water transport and delivery services. In addition to distribution, AfricroozE operates solar-powered charging stations, trains local mechanics for maintenance and repair, and offers leasing and microfinancing models. More than 500 e-bikes are in use in Uganda, Zambia, Kenya, Togo and Benin; partnerships exist in Tanzania and Namibia. From mid-2025 onwards, production will be set up locally in Uganda together with the Dutch partner Nijland BV.
