About Akzent TV
Akzent TV is a German-language, intercultural online media platform based in Berlin. Its goal is to make social diversity in Germany visible – around 16 million people with a migration background. The platform sees itself as a place of intercultural encounter and promotes dialogue. In portrait, interview, culture and entertainment formats, people from the Black community and other diaspora groups have their say. Editorial formats include African Perspektive, Akzent fragt, AfrikAkzent, Dein Akzent, Faces of Akzent, Sessions and Insight. Topics include migration, everyday racism, exile, culture, music, fashion and social participation. The supporting organization is afrikAkzent Media e.V., which sees itself as a non-profit media project. Content such as interviews with Afro-German personalities, reports (including on contract workers from Mozambique in the GDR) and cultural coverage (Carnival of Cultures, ITB) is made available online free of charge. Funding is provided through grants and donations; visitors can support the work.
