About Allgäu Automation
Allgäu Automation GmbH develops and produces the RumboJet880 in Oy-Mittelberg in the Allgäu region, a self-detecting spraying machine for selective individual plant treatment of dock in grassland. Six multispectral cameras detect dock plants in real time, and AI software controls the precise application of herbicides only to detected plants – according to the company, this reduces herbicide consumption by up to 98 percent compared with full-surface treatment. The machineering encompasses mechanical, electronic and software development, with production carried out as series production since the market launch in 2022. Plant protection components are designed according to DIN EN ISO 16119, and standard industrial components are used. Customers are farms and agricultural contractors in grassland management, with more than 100 farms served to date. In addition to sales and commissioning, the company offers consulting and on-site demonstrations; deliveries are made to Germany and the Netherlands.

Technologies & Processes
Spot spraying
Selective individual plant treatment: only detected dock plants are sprayed instead of treating entire areas.
Multispectral camera technology
Six multispectral cameras capture 90 images per second and detect dock in real time even under changing light conditions.
AI-based image recognition
An algorithm controls the pinpoint application directly onto the detected plants.
Plant protection technology according to DIN EN ISO 16119
The plant protection components of the RumboJet880 are designed according to this standard.
