Alois Schiermeier - Sägewerk & Holzmarkt GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized family business in Thyrnau near Passau with a more than one-hundred-year tradition as a sawmill. At the Niedersatzbach plant, sawn timber, construction timber cut to list, squared timbers, planks and laths are produced and dried in an in-house drying chamber; planed products such as profiled and façade timbers as well as terrace and garden timbers made of larch, Douglas fir, bangkirai and WPC are also manufactured. At the second site in Passau-Grubweg, the roundwood is debarked, the root flare is milled off with a log reducer and the material is temporarily stored; the bark produced is processed into bark mulch, and chippings are used for heating purposes. A second pillar is the trade in glulam, KVH, panel materials, battens, formwork panels and garden timber including accessories. Customers are mainly carpentry workshops and construction companies in the region; in addition, there are ongoing business relations with Munich and Austria.
