ALPHALAS GmbH was founded in 1997 as a high-tech company in the fields of lasers and optoelectronics and is based in Göttingen. The company offers a broad product spectrum: mode-locked diode-pumped solid-state lasers (DPSS) and fiber lasers with pulse durations from 100 fs to 100 ps, sub-nanosecond Q-switched DPSS lasers of the PULSELAS series with pulse energies from 5 µJ to 1.5 mJ and peak powers up to 1.5 MW, CW single-frequency lasers of the MONOPOWER series, and picosecond diode lasers of the PICOPOWER-LD series with wavelengths from 375 to 2300 nm. The portfolio is complemented by ultrafast photodetectors of the UPD series with rise times from 15 ps in the spectral range 170–2600 nm, high-resolution CCD line cameras, laser diode and TEC drivers, Pockels cell drivers, high-voltage switches, and optical components such as unique tunable zero-order waveplates for 150–6500 nm and 1–21 µm. Strengths include fast delivery, flexibility and custom design; the company also offers contract research, development and laser consulting. Key customers come from universities, research and teaching, as well as from applications such as nonlinear optics, ultrafast spectroscopy, material processing, LIDAR, interferometry, telecommunications and DNA analysis.
