The Altenburger Kraftfutterwerk und Getreidehandel (ALKA) GmbH produces individual compound feeds for cattle, pigs, poultry, sheep, goats, horses, rabbits and geese at its compound feed plant in Altenburg. The main raw materials are regional grain from Saxony and Thuringia, sourced predominantly from a radius of at most 50 km, as well as rapeseed. The mid-sized company with more than 50 employees in production, warehouse management and sales supports farmers through direct sales: from analysis of the livestock to the creation of individual feeding concepts through to continuous support in all growth phases. An extensively branched logistics and storage network with locations in Frohburg, Penig and Niederpöllnitz as well as its own vehicle fleet ensure delivery throughout Central Germany. Around 60 % of the annual energy requirement is covered by an in-house solar installation.
