About Alunorf
Aluminium Norf GmbH (Alunorf) in Neuss is a joint venture of Speira GmbH and Novelis Deutschland GmbH (50% each) and operates the world's largest aluminum smelting and rolling mill at the Neuss site. On premises covering approximately 577,000 m², approximately 1.5 million tons of hot and cold rolled aluminum sheets are produced annually, along with about 62,000 bars (max. 9 m long, 60 cm thick, up to 32 t heavy) and about 150,000 coils. The value chain includes recycling of aluminum scrap in the recycling center opened in 2011, smelting and alloying with iron, manganese, magnesium, copper, and silicon, casting, hot and cold rolling down to 0.15 mm thickness, as well as cutting and winding into coils. Buyers include customers from the packaging, automotive, printing, and construction industries, as well as renewable energy; sales are made exclusively to the shareholders Novelis and Speira. Over 2,200 employees from more than 40 countries produce in the smelter, hot sheet, and cold sheet divisions; deliveries in 2025 amounted to 1,393 thousand tons with sales revenue of 527 million €.

Raw Materials and Processes
Aluminum
Base raw material for all rolled and cast products based on reprocessing.
Primary Aluminum
Smelted in the smelting-casting plants alongside recycled material.
Aluminum Alloys (Fe, Mn, Mg, Cu, Si)
Alloying elements for the required rolled product properties.
Aluminum Scrap (Can scrap, Alu shavings)
Recycled material from the recycling center, added to the melt as liquid metal.
