About us
AMSTOG GmbH, headquartered in Geesthacht, specializes in chemical processes in molten salts and offers salt bath treatments for glass components – from chemical strengthening to etching. The processes are based on reducing molten salts and enable glass processing without the use of hydrofluoric acid. Services include tapering glass fibers (tapers, tips), structuring surfaces for multifunctional microsystem technology, and treating fiber and flat glass substrates. In the Tabaluga project, a dip-coating process for thin glass for chemical strengthening was developed. In addition, the company offers engineering services from a mechanical, electrical and process engineering perspective, including special software, hardware and design solutions for the process-optimized adaptation of glass components and the necessary peripheral equipment. AMSTOG GmbH was founded in 2020 out of the SaltEtch research project for the development of modular plant technology for glass etching in molten salts and cooperates with the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration IZM.
