About us
BMR Schlachthof GmbH from Garrel was founded in 1999, when the slaughter operation was taken over from Raiffeisen Viehvermarktung and GENO Schlachthaus Garrel Besitzgesellschaft. The company is a pure pig, sow and boar slaughterhouse in northwestern Lower Saxony, right in the middle of the finishing regions of the Oldenburg Münsterland, Emsland, Oldenburg Land and Osnabrück Land, which guarantees short transport routes. On a 5-hectare site in the Garrel industrial area, around 1,500,000 pigs are slaughtered each year; in 2009 BMR ranked 9th among German pig slaughterhouses according to AFZ. The company offers contract slaughter, marketing of slaughter by-products, IT-supported customer sorting and shipping, and seamless traceability. Animal welfare is ensured by a modern CO2 backloader stunning system, and the exhaust air is cleaned by a biofilter system. Since 2013, an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001:2011 has been in place.
