The Großharthauer Seniorenhäus'l is a fully residential nursing home in Großharthau in the West Lusatia region (Saxony), operated by Andreas Richter. The facility was created in 2009 through extensive conversion of the Polytechnic Secondary School "Alexander von Humboldt", built in GDR times. The house offers 42 generously sized, light-flooded single rooms spread over 3 floors; these floors also form the three residential units. Care and support are provided with a staffing ratio described as above average for the region, so that staff have sufficient time for the wishes and needs of every resident. Value is placed on a family-style interaction and a warm-hearted atmosphere. Due to the special repurposing of the former school building, the nursing home was among the prize winners of the Saxon State Competition "Rural Building" 2011. The facility includes an extensive park landscape.
