About AP Sensing
AP Sensing GmbH, headquartered in Böblingen, specializes in distributed fiber optic sensing (DFOS). The company develops and manufactures measurement systems for distributed temperature sensing (DTS), distributed acoustic sensing (DAS), distributed temperature and strain sensing (DTSS) and fiber optic linear heat detectors (LHD), complemented by fiber optic sensor cables, fiber-based power monitoring CAMOS and the SmartVision software with AI modules such as MLTA and eDTS. The technology is based on the OTDR principle (Raman, Brillouin and Rayleigh scattering) with proprietary code correlation technology; sensor cables are offered as FIMT, metal-free or stainless steel armored variants with FRNC/HDPE sheathing. Application areas include power grid monitoring (buried, submarine and overhead lines, busbars), pipeline and LNG terminal monitoring, fire detection in tunnels, production facilities and battery storage systems, geothermal energy, CCS, as well as railway and perimeter monitoring. The roots go back to the Hewlett-Packard heritage in optical measurement technology; AP Sensing was founded in 2007 via Agilent Technologies as an independent company. With more than 1,000 projects in over 70 countries, the company serves customers such as Sumitomo Electric, NordBalt and Eurotunnel; development and manufacturing take place in Germany in Böblingen.
