About Apeiron
Apeiron Defense Technologies is a founder-led defense technology company from Jülich in North Rhine-Westphalia. The company develops autonomous aerial vehicles, swarm software and take-off and landing infrastructure that operate without a permanent data link to the ground. The core product is Drone 01, a box-wing VTOL tailsitter for reconnaissance and interception, which takes off vertically, transitions into forward flight and lands autonomously on assigned landing pads; its range is up to 100 km with a top speed of up to 250 km/h and a payload of up to 4 kg. Development is simulation-based: components are selected by calculation and tested in PX4, Gazebo and ROS 2 before hardware is ordered. In addition to the aircraft, the product portfolio includes the onboard swarm operating system Swarm OS, the command and situation overview Command with operator override, and the autonomous pad network. Serial production is planned from mid-2027 according to the roadmap.

Quality and Principles
Decisions of the autonomous systems are logged together with their input data and are therefore traceable. Testing takes place on partner test sites, and the design is production-oriented from the first draft.
