About aquaponik manufaktur
aquaponik manufaktur GmbH plans and realizes aquaponics systems in which aquaculture and hydroponics are combined into a closed nutrient cycle. The range of services includes individual system planning taking existing areas and buildings into account, modular aquaponics systems, and concepts for large-scale projects and research facilities. The company is not tied to specific system types – whether warm or cold, open, in a greenhouse or polytunnel. A key focus is the integration of existing waste heat, for example from biogas plants, which is used via heat exchangers to heat the greenhouse without any material contact; for systems of approx. 15,000 m² or more, an adapted biogas plant can fully cover heat and electricity demand. The company is itself actively engaged in research and works on the basis of the current state of research. On 16.06.2023, an aquaponics system built as part of a research project was opened on the grounds of the Kokerei Hansa coking plant in Dortmund.

Processes & System Components
Aquaponics systems (aquaculture + hydroponics)
Closed nutrient cycle with complete nutrient recovery and up to 90 percent water savings.
Waste heat integration
Greenhouse heating via heat exchangers, e.g. using waste heat from biogas plants, exhaust air or coolant.
Biogas plant coupling
For systems of approx. 15,000 m² or more, an adapted biogas plant can process substrate from the system and fully cover heat and electricity demand.
