About Arethia
Arethia is an internationally active corporate group in the flavour and fragrance industry, originating from the Alfred N. Hertz GmbH founded in 1954 by Alfred N. Hertz near Hamburg. The group develops and produces flavours in liquid form (low- and high-viscosity), as emulsions and in solid form as powder and granulate. Production includes flavour compounding, emulsification, microencapsulation, spray drying, homogenisation, separation, natural extraction and biotechnological processes such as enzymatic production and fermentation. Production takes place at two main sites in Hamburg (Germany) and Surabaya (Indonesia) on more than 10,000 m² of production and logistics space with a capacity of more than 4,000 tonnes of flavours and related products per year. Customer industries are Food & Beverage, Inhalation & Active Ingredients and Oral Care & Pharma; customers in more than 70 countries are supplied. Under the Arethia holding, the divisions Hertz Flavors, FLAVORIQ and Senovia operate; in 2025 the opening of a new 35,000 m² headquarters in Hamburg is planned.
