About Arktis
Arktis Radiation Detectors is a Swiss company based in Zurich that develops and manufactures systems for detecting and categorizing radiological and nuclear materials. The technology is based on research at CERN conducted on behalf of ETH Zurich. Core products are neutron and gamma detection systems, including radiation portal monitors, mobile detection kits, drone-based gamma detectors and the Flat Panel Gamma (FPG) detector module based on SiPM technology (standard external dimensions 18.5 x 29.5 cm, custom sizes possible). Instead of high-voltage amplifier tubes, Arktis relies on semiconductor signal processing (silicon photomultipliers), and for neutron detectors on helium-4 technology; ML-based algorithms enable isotope identification. Manufacturing takes place in the company's own design and production facility in Zurich (Binz) as well as in the USA, supplemented by contract manufacturers. Customers are government agencies and industry in the Homeland & Border Security, Nuclear Industry, Recycling, Facility Security and Research segments in North America, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

Technology and Materials
Helium-4
Detection medium for fast neutron detection in high-gamma environments, e.g. in the S670 system.
Silicon Photomultiplier (SiPM)
Semiconductor-based signal readout replacement for photomultiplier tubes with better spectral, temporal and spatial resolution.
Flat Panel Gamma (FPG) Technology
Proprietary flat panel gamma detection technology with the highest sensitivity-to-weight ratio, suitable inter alia for drone applications.
Commercially available materials
The detectors are made of commercially available materials, making production and assembly automatable and scalable.
