About Artma
Artma Medizintechnik GmbH, based at Simmeringer Hauptstrasse 24 in Vienna, developed the Artma Virtual Patient® system for augmented reality in medicine. The core of the technology is Interventional Video Tomography, a method for augmented reality visualization, combined with stereotactic navigation for surgical microscopes, endoscopes, ultrasound probes and lasers. Further components include live video data fusion, data fusion via see-through head-mounted displays, real-time motion analysis, 3D digitizer systems and the free MedScan Viewer software. Fields of application were primarily oral and maxillofacial surgery, ENT surgery and dentistry; clinical reference sites were the universities of Vienna, Innsbruck, Berlin and Zurich. The company was involved in the EUREKA project EU 662 ARTMA and maintained a US branch in Salt Lake City under the name Artma Biomedical, Inc. PCT patents have been granted or are pending since 1990. The current website is operated by EURODOC Telemedizin Forschungsgesellschaft mbH (Vienna), which, under the management of Dr. Michael Truppe, offers IT services and telemedicine research, including a research project on robotics in ENT surgery.
