About Arxada
Arxada is a specialty chemicals group headquartered in Basel that emerged in 2021 from Bain Capital's and Cinven's acquisition of Lonza's Specialty Ingredients division. The company researches, develops, produces and markets chemical products and materials for microbial control: biocides, preservatives, disinfectants, corrosion inhibitors, lubricants and specialty additives. Around 3,100 employees work at 24 production sites and 14 R&D centers worldwide; revenue in 2025 was CHF 2 billion. Core sites in the German-speaking region are Basel (headquarters) and Visp in Valais, where research and manufacturing are combined with around 800 employees: five interconnected multipurpose chemistry complexes with 22 production units and 670 m³ of reactor volume handle quantities from a few grams to several tonnes, including on-site production of ketene, hydrogen cyanide and ammonia as well as niacin production using vapor recompression. As a CDMO, Arxada supports customers from concept through to industrial production; customer industries range from Professional Hygiene to Paints, Coatings and Wood Protection to Home & Personal Care, Human Health & Nutrition and Material Protection.
