About Ascense Medical

Ascense Medical is a medical technology start-up founded in Vienna in 2021 that develops medical devices for the treatment of aortic diseases. The focus is on an aortic stent graft for the treatment of type B aortic dissection as well as surgical vascular prostheses and further stent grafts. The core of product development is the company's own material platform 'Complion', an elastic prosthesis material designed to imitate the physiological elasticity of the aorta and preserve its Windkessel (elastic cushioning) function. The team comprises biomedical scientists, chemists, mechanical and polymer engineers as well as cardiac and vascular surgeons. Following an aws preseed grant (Deep Tech, Life Sciences), the establishment of a laboratory for development, testing and assembly in Vienna is planned; the start of a clinical study was scheduled for 2024 and CE marking for the European market is targeted for 2026.
