About asiamed
The asia-med GmbH (asiamed) was founded in 1989 by physicians and develops, manufactures and distributes medical devices for acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. The product range includes more than 30 acupuncture needle types with over 300 variants in different handle types (copper, metal coil handle, plastic and metal tube handle), permanent needles for ear acupuncture, kinesiology tapes made of cotton, nylon and synthetic fabrics as well as acupuncture lasers for needle-free point stimulation. The needles are made of corrosion-resistant medical stainless steel and undergo precision grinding of the domed tip (0.2 mm tip length), polishing or electropolishing, silicone coating, sterilization and single-blister packaging. At the Suhl site, cleanroom processes, warehousing, logistics and central incoming quality control of medical devices take place; Pullach consolidates sales, procurement, regulatory affairs and administration. Customers are physicians, acupuncturists, therapists and alternative practitioners worldwide; brands are asiamed and TeWa.

Materials & Processes
Medical stainless steel
Corrosion-resistant medical steel with high bending strength as the base material of the acupuncture needles, also as stainless steel wire for metal coil handles.
Copper
Coil handles of traditional acupuncture needles; high conductivity enables moxibustion and electro-stimulation applications.
Gold and silver coating
Surface finishing of needle and copper coil handle for TCM and ear acupuncture applications.
Medical silicone
Ultra-thin coating over the entire needle length to support gliding properties during insertion.
Thermoplastic
Injection-molded handles and transparent guide tubes for centering and controlled guidance of the needle tip.
Cotton, nylon, rayon, spandex
Fabrics for kinesiology tapes with different elasticities (approx. 40–100%) and hypoallergenic acrylic adhesive.

Quality
Established control procedures and precise measurement methods ensure product quality; force measurement of insertion behavior (approx. 0.6 N compared to approx. 1.6 N for conventional needles) is documented. Central incoming quality control of medical devices takes place in Suhl, including cleanroom processes.
