About the Studio

The Atelier Thomas Ort is a sole proprietorship of freelance sculptor Thomas Ort in Wildsteig, in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau. With over 30 years of experience in the sculptor's craft, the studio produces works of art in wood for private and public clients. The range of services covers sacred art, nativity figures, secular art and applied art; all pieces are made using traditional carving techniques in the studio's own workshop at Riedstraße 12. In addition to commissioned work, Thomas Ort offers meditative carving courses in which participants can learn the sculptor's craft. As an artisan business with only one working person, the offering is aimed at individual clients, churches and communities as well as interested laypeople in the DACH region; the production depth covers design, carving work and execution from a single source.
