About Austrotherm

Austrotherm GmbH is an Austrian insulation materials manufacturer headquartered in Wopfing, Lower Austria, and belongs to the Schmid Industrie Holding. Founded in 1953 by Oswald Nowotny in Vienna, the company produces insulation boards made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) and extruded polystyrene rigid foam (XPS) as well as PE foam films for packaging, impact sound and thermal insulation. The product portfolio includes perimeter, flat roof, foundation and plinth insulation, bathroom and wellness elements such as UNIPLATTE and Shower Board, façade profiles and design elements as well as custom XPS products for industrial applications. Production takes place at sites in Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey; the group reports annual capacities of 100,000 to 600,000 m³ depending on the location, with the Purbach plant exceeding 30,000 m³ per year. In 1991, Austrotherm became the first Austrian manufacturer to start its own XPS production in Pinkafeld.
