About Avebe KPW
AVEBE Kartoffelstärkefabrik Prignitz/Wendland GmbH (KPW) is the German subsidiary of the Dutch cooperative Cöoperatie Koninklijke Avebe U.A. and operates two potato starch factories: the Dallmin plant in the Prignitz region (Brandenburg) and the Lüchow plant in the Wendland (Lower Saxony). At both sites, around 650,000 tonnes of starch potatoes are processed annually – approximately 300,000 tonnes in Dallmin and 350,000 tonnes in Lüchow, with a starch production of about 80,000 tonnes per year. In a largely automated, closed wet process, the potatoes are washed, ground and separated into the fractions starch, fibres and fruit water; from the fruit water, Dallmin has been producing food-grade potato protein (Solanic) in a Protamyl plant since 2021. The portfolio comprises native and modified potato starches (including oxidised starches, starch esters, pregelatinised starches, the acetylation line), speciality starches such as Perfectamyl D8/D12, waxy starch, potato fibres and potato protein. Customers are primarily the food industry (convenience, confectionery, vegan products, cheese, ice cream), as well as animal feed and industrial applications; the products are delivered to Europe, the USA and Asia.

Raw materials and products
Potato starch (native)
Core product made from starch potatoes with a starch content of approx. 19%, mainly for the food industry (binder in pudding, sauces, convenience products, confectionery).
Modified potato starches
Chemically refined starches such as oxidised starches, starch esters, distarch phosphates and modified pregelatinised starches, produced during the inter-campaign and via the acetylation line.
Speciality starches (Perfectamyl D8/D12, waxy starch)
Starches with a lower water content and amylose-free starch including derivatives, produced since 1999–2004.
Potato protein (Solanic)
Plant-based protein from potato fruit water, food-grade and an alternative to animal protein, e.g. for vegan cheese, ice cream and gummy sweets.
Potato fibres
Dietary fibre fraction separated during starch extraction as a by-product.
Wheat starch
Historically produced at the Dallmin site from 1968 to 1985.

Quality and sustainability
The delivery of the potatoes is tested in the laboratory for starch content and quality; production runs largely automated in closed systems with monitoring from the control room. An integrated management system governs compliance with legal and regulatory requirements; the company policy is available on request.
