Badische Peptide & Proteine GmbH (BPP GmbH) is a biotechnology company headquartered in Mannheim with its laboratory at the Business Development Center Heidelberg. At the core of the company is the patented Better Peptides Platform: a designer fusion protein that enables expression, protection, purification and controlled release of individual linear and circular peptides (20–250 amino acids payload) in bacterial cultures. Production is recombinant from renewable biological resources without hazardous organic solvents; purification uses scalable chromatography processes with high yields. The scale ranges from milligrams for peptide candidates to multi-ton scale for commercial products. In addition to contract manufacturing, BPP offers peptide and protein analytics (HPLC/FPLC, MALDI-TOF, gel electrophoresis, enzyme assays) and, since 2024, the peptide-based gene delivery technology BPP Bioportide™ as transformation/transfection kits. Target industries are agriculture, pharma, food (including Cultured Meat), cosmetics and research.
