Maison Bakalowits
Bakalowits Licht Design GmbH is a family-run Viennese company founded in 1845, now in its fifth generation, specialising in bespoke luxury luminaires and chandeliers. In its own Viennese atelier, design, technical engineering (BIM/CAD, structural analysis), handcrafted production and installation are offered from a single source. The company produces custom chandeliers and lighting installations ranging from small pendant luminaires to monumental installations – the largest chandelier produced has a diameter of 17 metres and a weight of 19 tonnes (Parliament Belgrade). Production is carried out by hand in the company's own metal, glass and surface workshops: steel structures, solid brass components from casting and hand shaping, hand-cut crystal and mouth-blown glass, together with custom surface finishes such as mirror polishing, patinas and lacquers. Customers include luxury hotels, palaces and government buildings, opera houses, private residences, shipping and heritage conservation worldwide; references range from the Vienna State Opera to the Kennedy Center. In addition to new production, the company offers restoration of historic luminaires including the reproduction of spare parts, as well as on-site maintenance and cleaning.
