About us
BALDUR-Garten is a special mail-order company for plant novelties and rarities founded in 1901. Its roots lie in Erfurt, where the company started with seed breeding and group-order mail-order shipping; shortly before the construction of the Berlin Wall it moved its operations to the West and, after detours via Heppenheim, settled in Bensheim. Today the company is run by the third generation and offers more than 1,500 items per season, including over 150 novelties and over 250 rarities such as hardy perennials, ornamental shrubs, roses, summer flowers, flower bulbs, container plants, young plants and fruit trees. After delivery, the plants are checked for quality in the glass greenhouse, fitted with special packaging and picture labels, and picked at the dispatch and logistics centre in Bensheim. During the peak season far more than 15,000 parcels leave the house daily; annually it is over 1,500,000 parcels. Around 99% of shipments go via DHL GoGreen to customers in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

After delivery, the plants are inspected for quality in the large glass greenhouse; 3 master gardeners and up to 5 additional gardeners monitor their condition. Permanent quality control already begins at the upstream supplier.
