About us
BARBARA ERZBERGBAU GmbH operates the Wohlverwahrt-Nammen mine in Porta Westfalica at the Weser hills and specialises in the underground extraction and processing of ferriferous coral oolite (iron ore). From the extracted rock, the company produces mineral mixes, ballast, chippings and crushed sands for civil and road engineering, armourstones and slope paving for hydraulic and road construction, decorative chippings, path slabs and dry stone-wall blocks for landscaping, as well as aggregates for the concrete and cement industry; it also supplies wind farms and the railway sector with track ballast as well as planing and protective layers. Using the room-and-pillar mining method, excavated cavities are secured with paste and pillar support backfill; for this purpose, approved residual materials such as fly ashes and gypsums from hard coal power stations are processed with binders and water in three mixing plants. As a certified waste management company, the company recovers residual materials in an environmentally friendly manner. Delivery and dispatch take place by truck, rail and ship via a private siding, with a focus on northern Germany.

Raw materials and processes
Ferriferous coral oolite (iron ore)
Iron ore extracted underground, which is processed into mineral mixes, ballast, chippings, crushed sands and aggregates for construction and the concrete and cement industry.
Limestone
Raw material extracted since 1956 in the Wülpker Egge open-cast pit for construction and industry.
Fly ash (from hard coal power stations)
Approved residual material for the production of backfill material used to fill excavated cavities.
Gypsum (from hard coal power stations)
Approved residual material from flue gas cleaning that is used in the backfill material.
