About Barong Direktimport

Barong Direktimport is an import and trading company founded in 2004 by Susanne Baumann, with a retail shop at Petrikirchhof 3 in Soest's old town. Following a trip to Bali in 2003, the business was oriented towards the direct import of Balinese artisan craftwork. The product range includes silver jewellery – rings, bangles, brooches, pendants as well as earrings and ear studs – which is 100 % handmade in small Balinese artist workshops and designed for Barong. In addition, carvings, stonemasonry work and hand-printed fabrics are offered. The company is an importer and retailer, not a manufacturer: production takes place at the partner workshops in Bali. In addition to retail sales, Barong participates in markets and town festivals and is known beyond the Soester Börde region. No information is available on technical manufacturing processes, standard materials or series production.
