Baß Antriebstechnik GmbH (BAT) in Gebsattel near Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a development and manufacturing company for custom engineering solutions in drive technology. The company produces freewheels, backstops, overrunning clutches, over 1100 gear variants, gears, frictional connections (shrink discs and clamping sets), clutches and brakes from 100 to 50,000 Nm as well as complete special-purpose machinery. Production comprises CNC turning and milling on more than 150 machine tools at three sites, gear manufacturing with gear grinding, broaching, shaping, and an in-house hardening shop featuring hardening, case hardening, nitriding (Tenifer), annealing, tempering, induction hardening and friction welding, complemented by shot blasting and assembly of modules. An in-house design office with seven employees develops customer-specific gears and assemblies, which are manufactured predominantly for market leaders in various mechanical engineering sectors. Around 75 % of revenue is generated on the world market, including deliveries of backstops to Brazil, Dubai and Russia.
