About Berkel-Trailer

Berkel-Trailer is the brand of Baumeister & Petzinna GbR based in Vreden in the Münsterland. The company develops and manufactures cargo trailers for bicycles and e-bikes that are produced regionally. The chassis are made of 4 mm thick aluminium and are powder-coated; a ten-year warranty is given on all frames. The tow bars are precisely CNC-bent from a special aluminium alloy and are available with coupling solutions from Weber or Thule as well as blank. The wheels with Schwalbe Pick-Up tires are designed for loads of up to 240 kg and are produced in Germany. The product range includes the Crafty 500, Crafty 600 and Flipper 550 models as well as accessories, spare parts and battery-powered LED rear lights compliant with StVZO requirements. Sales are conducted via a German- and Dutch-language online shop with guides and a coupling finder.

Quality

The trailers are equipped as standard with StVZO-approved reflectors (50x50 mm); the Schwalbe tires feature a printed reflective stripe. For lighting, battery-powered rear lights are recommended, which increase visibility without intervention in the bicycle wiring.

History

It began with an idea and the construction of a first prototype in the garage at home; the first prototypes were made of metal with Minja's father Heinrich.
After a chance reunion of the founders, the basic idea was further developed; the result is the first Berkel-Trailer Crafty 500.
