Baustoffgruppe Salem GmbH, based in Salem-Neufrach on Lake Constance, is a holding company with investments in building materials companies in southern Baden-Württemberg. Originating from the Kieswerk Salem GmbH registered in 1962, the group today supports its investee companies strategically, economically and sustainably, without being operationally active itself. The investments cover the entire building materials cycle: extraction of gravel and sand, processing, ready-mixed concrete, recycling, disposal as well as renaturation and recultivation of extraction sites. One example is the gravel pit in the Hardtwald forest near Salem, where more than 400,000 tonnes of gravel have been extracted since 1999; after the approved raw material quantity was exhausted in 2019, recultivation with reforestation began. The group sees itself as a regionally rooted player that combines a reliable supply of building materials with responsible management of nature and resources.
