About Bay Holzwerk

Bay Holzwerk GmbH is a sawmill and planing mill in Großerlach-Mannenweiler in the Swabian-Franconian Forest, family-owned since 1898 and today run in the 5th generation by Matthias and Manuel Bay. The company primarily converts roundwood sourced within a radius of 50–70 km into spruce, fir and Douglas fir and produces saw-rough sawn timber such as construction lumber, cross-section and squared timber, frames, boards, planks and laths up to a cross-section of 38x38 cm and a maximum length of 14.50 m. In the company's own planing mill, planed boards, tongue-and-groove profiles and decking boards are produced; in addition, the mill manufactures structural timber (MH solid wood, KVH, BSH/glulam) as well as packaging wood for crates and pallets, also heat-treated in accordance with IPPC/ISPM 15. Value-added services include technical timber drying in five chambers, cutting and cross-cutting to the millimetre, stamping, blue-stain protection as well as kiln pressure impregnation in cooperation. A sorting and stacking system network, a brand-new gang saw and the company's own residual wood utilisation via wood-chip heating and a wood gasifier complete the operation. Customers come from timber and civil construction, landscaping, the packaging industry and interior fitting; goods are collected exclusively ex works.
