About BAYERNOIL
BAYERNOIL Raffineriegesellschaft mbH is a petroleum refinery network with the facilities Neustadt an der Donau (approx. 300 hectares, in operation since 1964) and Vohburg an der Donau (approx. 127 hectares, in operation since 1967). The company processes around 10 million tonnes of crude oil annually, delivered via the Transalpine Pipeline (TAL) from Trieste. The product range includes liquefied petroleum gases (propane/propylene, butane/butene), naphtha, gasoline grades (Super, SuperPlus), diesel, aviation fuel (jet/kerosene), light and heavy heating oil, bitumen and sulfur. The core processes are distillation and vacuum distillation, catalytic cracking (FCC), mild hydrocracking, desulfurization/hydrotreating, reforming, isomerization, OATS gasoline desulfurization, and sulfur recovery using the Claus process. Bio-components such as ethanol, RME, HVO and ETBE are blended into the fuels; with the BAYH2® project, a 125 MW electrolysis plant for hydrogen production is being developed. Production runs around the clock from automated control rooms; the products are manufactured for the shareholders and delivered to Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Raw Materials and Processes
Crude oil (petroleum)
The only main raw material, delivered via the TAL from Trieste and processed at both facilities.
Hydrogen
Produced in-house at the Neustadt hydrogen plant for hydrotreating and desulfurization processes.
Natural gas
Energy source and feedstock, approx. 300,000 t per year processed in the refineries.
Bio-components (ethanol, RME, HVO, ETBE)
Blended into the fuels to meet the greenhouse gas reduction quota.
Cr/Ni steel
Material of the mild hydrocracker reactors (design 145 bar, 449 °C).
