About the Winery
Bechtel Weine is a winery in Eglisau in the canton of Zurich that has been producing high-quality wines since 2008. The owner and winemaker is Mathias Bechtel. The vineyards are located on the sunny slopes of the Grand Cru vineyard of Eglisau on the Rhine, where vines have been cultivated for over 1'000 years. The winery relies on manual vineyard care, strict yield control limited to a maximum of 400 g per vine, and gentle processing of the grapes in its own cellar. The range comprises three lines: Grand Cru Eglisau (aged in barrique), Sélection (varietal, aged in wood, partly chestnut or acacia) and Bechtel (aged in steel tanks). The wines have been awarded multiple times, including the Swiss Wine Vintage Award, the Falstaff Pinot Noir Trophy and Gault@Millau. The winery is certified according to the sustainability standard FAIR'N GREEN.
