About the Beckmann Institute
The Beckmann-Institut für Technologieentwicklung e.V. (BTE) was founded in 1998 as an independent, non-profit association to promote science and research. The institute is a founding member of the Saxon Industry Research Community (SIG) registered association and the Konrad Zuse German Industry Research Community (ZUSE Community) registered association. At BTE, doctoral and diploma scientists as well as technical employees from various disciplines conduct research and development. The technological focuses are in Additive Manufacturing (MPL, 3DP, SLA, SLS) of ceramics, titanium, biocompatible and renewable materials, as well as in Plasma Electrolytic Polishing (PeP) of additively manufactured, cast, forged, welded, and medical parts, including dental technology, implants, as well as brass and bronze parts. A process chain includes the direct burnout and casting of additively manufactured titanium models. In addition to applied and basic research in industry- and publicly funded projects, the institute offers technology and knowledge transfer, standardization work, further education, as well as measurement and surface assessment. Current projects include additively manufactured natural stone (3DSaxStone) and the process window development for plasma electrolytic polishing (TwinSax).
