Who we are
BEHR AG, headquartered in Seevetal, is a vegetable-growing enterprise founded in 1895 and owner-managed in the fourth and fifth generation. The company cultivates around 4,000 hectares of open-field vegetables, of which more than 600 hectares follow organic guidelines, and markets around 60 different vegetable crops – from lettuce to brassicas and carrots through to pumpkins. Cultivation takes place predominantly outdoors in natural soil, using the controlled-integrated method as well as organic farming; in winter, production takes place in Spain to ensure year-round delivery capability. Harvesting is done to order by hand, with packing and labelling directly in the field. The group of companies includes production, trading and service businesses (including BioBehr GmbH, Agrar Systems S.A.U., BEHR Iberia S.L.U., Agro Serwis International, AMG Agrarmanagement, Strietzel Logistik). Customers are the German and European food retail sector as well as fresh vegetable processing businesses.
