About Bergheimer Emaillierwerk

Bergheimer Emaillierwerk GmbH & Co. KG is a contract enameling plant founded in 1949 and based in Bergheim (Rhein-Erft district, North Rhine-Westphalia). The company enamels components made of degreased or pickled steel, stainless steel and cast iron and, as a specialist for cost-effective large-scale series, produces on two electrostatic systems operated in parallel; smaller series are run in manual spray booths. The enamel is fired in gas-fired recirculation ovens at around 850 °C; components up to approx. 1500 × 900 mm can be enameled. In addition to conventional enameling with a ground-coat layer, the plant offers direct-white enameling as a single-coat process with up to 45 % lower coating thickness. Supplementary services include screen-printing decors, laser engraving into enameled surfaces, degreasing and pickling (parts up to 2200 × 1200 × 1000 mm), assembly, packaging and interim storage. An in-house laboratory formulates custom enamel colors. Customers come from the consumer goods, household appliances and outdoor sectors, such as signage and facade cladding.

History

  1. 1949

Founded by Rolf Herken in Bergheim, with the start of production of enameled products at the time of the currency reform.

  2. 1960

Due to the expansion of the lignite open-cast mining, the operation was rebuilt a few hundred meters away, modernized and enlarged.

  3. 2nd generation: son-in-law Peter Huber took over the entrepreneurial and technical management.

  4. 2011

Certification with the EEA Quality Seal of the European Enamel Authority (June 2011).

  5. 3rd generation: the brothers Philipp and Felix Huber run the company.
