About Bergtec International
Bergtec International AG is a Swiss family-owned company based in Meggen (canton of Lucerne) and a sister company of the French MSU – Matériel Sécurité Urbain, founded in 1970 by Marcel Bergdoll. Bergtec designs, manufactures, supplies and installs custom flood protection equipment: demountable flood barriers, stop logs, watertight flood protection doors, protective covers and demountable protection equipment for ventilation openings and air shafts, designed for water depths of 1 to 3 metres. Production takes place at MSU's own plant in Alsace on a site of around 15.000 m² with 4.500 m² of workshop space: cutting, drilling and bending of aluminium profiles as well as TIG/MIG welding, complemented by RAL painting to customer specification. The materials used are extra-hardened, marine-grade aluminium alloys from a Swiss press plant, steel and EPDM gaskets; the manufacturing tolerance is ±1 mm. An in-house design office performs strength calculations and foundation planning (intermediate support I-beams, R-Bars). Reference customers include historic sites in Paris, the Sanctuary of Lourdes and water facilities in European capitals; the company supplies France, Europe and beyond.

Materials and Processes
Extra-hardened aluminium alloys (marine-grade/seawater-resistant)
Core material for demountable flood barriers and stop logs – corrosion-free, lightweight and strong at low temperatures.
Steel
Used for protection equipment at air shafts and for reinforcing steel (R-Bars) in foundations.
EPDM gaskets
Special-geometry gaskets ensure the watertightness of the joints against friction, cracks, corrosion and UV ageing.
TIG/MIG welding
Joining process for the aluminium profile construction at the MSU plant in Alsace.
RAL painting
Surface finish in any RAL colour to blend in with buildings and the townscape.

Durability and Watertightness
Every flood barrier is tested for watertightness at the factory on the company's own water reservoir test rig, complemented by on-site measurements and independent laboratory testing (APAVE, CSTB). Designed according to DIN 19569-4, ISO EN 1090 and AL76/EUROCODE; the leak rate is below 2.3 litres/hour/m², the systems have been tested at -60 °C and carry a 20-year warranty.
