Berkel Unternehmungen GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Ludwigshafen, is a family-owned company that produces, refines and distributes alcohols and solvents. At the Ludwigshafen site, alcohols are produced, rectified and absolutized; additional sites in Lippstadt and Berlin serve production and distribution. The portfolio includes ethanol, neutral alcohol (also organic certified), synthetic alcohol, isopropanol, acetone and xylene in pharmaceutical quality (Ph. Eur., USP, JP) as well as denatured spirit. Services include denaturing of all kinds, contract manufacturing and customer-specific blends, upcycling of raw alcohol into neutral alcohol, and the recovery of ethanol-containing media and streams in accordance with waste law through distillation and filtration. An in-house laboratory performs incoming and outgoing inspections as well as quality assurance. The products are used, among other things, in chemistry, pharmacy, cosmetics, medicine, industry as well as in spirits and food manufacturing.
