betec Leuchten Manufactur GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1978 by Horst Lettenmayer in Dachau and produced design and picture lights in manufactory production. The company combined artisanal precision with technical development; it became particularly well known for the Clarus picture light, for which art design protection was granted in 1981. In total, the company held 39 design patents. Production was carried out individually for discerning customers with a focus on quality and aesthetics. After more than 55 years of existence, the operation in Dachau was permanently closed and liquidated. As of 2026, the production and distribution of the picture light models will be continued by VS-Manufaktur in Steinheim.
