BGI Biotechpark Gatersleben Infrastrukturgesellschaft mbH was founded in 2003 as a public-private partnership model and operates the Biotechpark Gatersleben in the town of Seeland (Saxony-Anhalt). The park, covering an area of 10 ha, is part of the biotechnology initiative of the state of Saxony-Anhalt and is located on the Biotech Campus Gatersleben, which has developed around the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research. The company provides start-up companies and plant biotechnology firms with commercial spaces, a conference building and infrastructure. In recent years, large areas have been allocated to investors; the high-tech greenhouse and laboratory buildings were transferred in 2022 to the long-standing tenant Saaten-Union Biotec GmbH. The site lies in the rain shadow of the Harz mountains with favourable climatic conditions and is connected to the supra-regional transport network via the A 36 motorway.
