About Building Health Lab

BHL Building Health Lab is a think & do tank founded in 2018 in Berlin that integrates health as a strategic objective into sustainable urban development. At its core is UrbanCare, a project with a systemic approach for studying and redesigning neighborhood streets for pedestrian traffic, climate and energy efficiency. The offering comprises three services: UrbanCare Diagnostics for neighborhood-based health and environmental research, UrbanCare APPS as immersive data platforms for municipalities (360° explorations, climate infographics, surveys), and UrbanCare Dialogues as four-part decision-making workshops for planners. Further fields are Urban Thermography, Healthy Urban Planning Consulting and project management. The team combines academic knowledge with practical experience and supports researchers with case studies across Europe. Cooperations include Architects Declare, the Global Health Hub and the International Society for Urban Health. Locations are Berlin (Platz der Luftbrücke and Danziger Str. 146).
