About Billo Bikes

Billo Bikes is a Vienna-based leisure project specializing in Custom Rebuilds of 1990s mountainbikes. It began in 2019 with the restoration of a 1991 GT Avalanche; since then, bikes have been rebuilt in the owner's spare time for friends and the community. The 26-inch MTBs of the 90s are converted into a balanced mix of commuter and gravel bike, also suited to bikepacking and light singletrack. Typical work includes handlebar conversions (e.g. BMX handlebars for taller riders), omitting suspension forks in favor of rigid forks, and adapting components. Frame material is predominantly steel, with carbon and alloy (aluminum) also present. In addition, Custom Framebags for 90s mountainbikes are created in collaboration with TRAAG. The operation is not an industrial manufacturing business; it is a hobby project by Christoph Wimmer (aka Billo Bikes).
